- Tell us about how you started Ruck and Sandbag training or events
My neighbors were always rucking around the neighborhood and doing sandbag training in the cul-de-sac and I’d look outside and think, “What in the world is going on over there?” It looked so crazy, so naturally, I let them talk me into joining their weird backpack cult.
I remember them telling me about these events they’d do overnight and said to myself, ‘Ok, that’s insane. I’ll never do that.” Now, almost 3 years later, here I am with multiple patch boards filled with overnight events, and I just recently completed my first HTB in Pittsburgh for Mog Mile.
- Most Memorable Event or Fitness achievement?
That’s a tough one because I have so many amazing memories, but I’d have to say my biggest fitness achievement was completing the Spartan Ultra in 2022. It was 30+ miles and 60+ obstacles in the freezing cold. I was so nervous that I only slept for an hour the night before but somehow made it through it. Probably because my friend Melissa, who I did the event with, kept my spirits up by making fun of me for talking to my food because I was so delirious. 🙂
- What are you training for?
I am currently training for the Bragg HTB. This is definitely my misogi for the year. While I just recently completed my first HTB, I’ve heard that Bragg is a whole different beast. It seems to be what everyone in the Goruck community aspires to complete. And of course, I have FOMO. So, here I go.
- Tell us about why you train with The Bakery?
I train with The Bakery because I want to be a part of “the standard” at GoRuck events. Joe pushes us both mentally and physically so that we don’t just survive at events, but we thrive. Whie I joined The Bakery for this reason, the community is why I stay. It’s indescribable what it feels like to be a part of something where like-minded people come together and not just support and push each other, but also become lifelong friends.
- What drives you in your fitness journey?
The main thing that drives me in my fitness journey is setting an example for my son. I want to show him that he can do hard things. I want him to see that if you put in the work, and try your best, that you can do anything you put your mind to.
- If you could set one fitness-related world record, what would it be?
I’ve probably already set a world record for the number of times someone says, “F*** this f****** hill” while carrying a sandbag up a hill, and then apologizing afterwards.
- If you could train with any athlete (past or present), who would it be and why?
Hands down, Allison Grubbs. She is truly an inspiration for women in the fitness world. When I watched her finished selection I got goosebumps and actually cried. Not only is she so badass, but she’s also so humble. I’d love to do an event with her. I feel like I could learn so much.
- What’s the best piece of fitness advice you’ve ever received?
“Give yourself grace.” I used to be so hard on myself before joining The Bakery. If I missed a workout, I would beat myself up over it. But I soon realized through this community that my mental health is just as important as my physical health. Sometimes your body needs a break, and that’s ok. Just keep going, and try your best tomorrow.

This is my daughter and I couldn’t be more proud of her! She inspires me every single day by the way she crushes her goals! She has grown so much both physically and mentally that I think prepares her for the curveballs this life can throw our way!
In addition, she is the most giving, loving and kind person I know. A true champion of the underdog♥️ I’m so happy she has this community of awesome, like-minded people. Bravo, Regan!!
P.S.Joe, she talks about you all the damn time and respects you to no end!
